George D. Henderson
Decorated Army Veteran
George D. Henderson, 73, of Bridgeton, died Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2003 at South Jersey Hospital – Bridgeton following an extended illness.
He was born in Newberg, PA and was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Beatrice Alberta (nee Hall) Henderson. He was a long time resident of Egg Harbor Township and had recently moved to the Renaissance Nursing Center in Bridgeton.
A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he served as a combat medic. He was honorably discharged after being wounded and receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. Henderson was devoted to his country and to the military.
He was employed for over twenty years as a tree surgeon with Asplundh Tree Service.
Mr. Henderson was an avid gardener and was the community handyman. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing all types of engines.
He is survived by three sons, George Henderson and his wife Samantha, Richard Henderson, and Rodney Henderson all of PA, two daughters, Debra K. McCole of PA and Victoria “Vicky” Naticchia and her husband Anthony of Trenton, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and by one brother, Frank Henderson of PA. He was predeceased by one daughter, Teresa Henderson.
Graveside services will be held Monday afternoon March 17th at 1 o’clock at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township with Pastor Donald K. Harrington of Berean Baptist Temple officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, N.J.
