Eleanor Souder Fleischman

Eleanor Souder Fleischman, 85, of Apollo Beach, Florida and formerly of Bridgeton and Basking Ridge died Tuesday July 13, 2010 at the Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida where she had been a patient for two days.

The wife of Augustine C. Fleischman, the Fleischmans were married February 16, 1946. Mrs. Fleischman was born in Bridgeton and was the daughter of the late Phillip Edward and Olive Elizabeth (nee Crowell) Souder. She was raised in Pitman and graduated from Pitman High School.

The Fleischmans were residents of Bridgeton until 1963 and they lived on N. Pearl Street and owned the Bridgeton Hobby Shop. They lived in Basking Ridge, NJ for several years before moving to Apollo Beach in 1983.

Mrs. Fleishman received her BS in Education from Glassboro State Teachers College and worked in Somerset County as a Special Education Teacher. She later served as a teacher's assistant and substitute teacher before retiring.

She was a member of St. Ann's RC Church is Ruskin, FL, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling in her retirement years.

She was devoted to her family and truly believed her nine children "were her life."

In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by three sons, Augustine Richard Fleischman (Colleen) of Liberty Corner, NJ, Otto Fleischman (Lori) of Holland Twp., NJ and Charles Fleischman (Sheila) of Littleton, CO, five daughters, Donna Gray (Philip) of Apollo Beach, FL, Sister Michael Francine Duncan, SSM of Beaverton, OR, Edna Fleischman of Salem, OR, Elizabeth Samuel of Liberty Corner, NJ and Helen Mills (Jon) of Califon, NJ, eight grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Mills, Bryna Lamonica, Ryan Fleischman, Erin and Jennifer Samuel and Heather and Christopher Fleischman, three great grandchildren and one sister, Marion Hartman of Poughkeepsie, NY. She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis C. Fleischman in 1959 and a sister, Elizabeth Gauntt.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will originate at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Tuesday morning July 20th at 9 o'clock and will be followed by a 10 o'clock Funeral Liturgy at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 312 N. Pearl Street, Bridgeton.

The interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bridgeton.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8.

Memorial contributions are requested in Mrs. Fleischman's memory to St. Ann's RC Church, 106 11th Avenue Northeast, Ruskin, FL 33570.
