Barry C. Crispin
Retired Lab Technician
Barry C. Crispin, former president of West Cumberland Little League and Hopewell Township Board of Education member died Monday morning July 12, 2010 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he had been a patient for the last month. He was 50 and a resident of Hopewell Township.
Barry was born at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County and was the son of Alvin and Violet Coleman Crispin, who live in Aldine. He graduated from Woodstown High School in 1978 and was married to Diane (nee Newkirk) Crispin. He was employed for thirty years as a lab technician in research and development at Mannington Mills in Salem. He had not worked since August of 2008.
An active member of the community, Barry served two terms as a member of the Hopewell Township Board of Education. He was also a member of the Hopewell Township Planning Board and was a founding member and chairman the Hopewell Recreation Committee. For nine years, he was the president of West Cumberland Little League and was active prior to his tenure at president. He also served the Cohansey Baptist Church as a member and as a trustee. He was raised at the Aldine United Methodist Church.
An athlete and always interested in athletics, Barry was a part of the Hopewell Crest School's Athletic Booster Club. He ran the intramural basketball program and served as a referee for several years. He also enjoyed golfing and was a participant in the Salem County Church Softball League.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Danielle Crispin McKelvey and her husband Kenny Jr. of Aldine, one son, Brian Scott Crispin of Hopewell Twp., one brother, Byron Crispin of Aldine, his mother-in-law, Frances M. Newkirk, sister-in-law, Darlene LeFleur and brother-in-law, Dale L. Newkirk and his wife Barbara and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Aldine United Methodist Church, 780 Friesburg-Aldine Rd., Alloway Twp. On Thursday morning July 15th at 11 o'clock.
The church's pastor, Rev. Don Polk will officiate.
The interment will take place in the church cemetery.
Friends will be received at the church Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 and also Thursday morning from 10 until 11.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home in Bridgeton.
