Nathan "Nate" Sparacio

Lifelong Farmer
 

Nathan "Nate" Sparacio, 94, of Rosenhayn died peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday evening July 10, 2010.

The husband of Mary (nee Bisconte) Sparacio, the Sparacios had been married for 68 years. Mr. Sparacio was born in Rosenhayn and was a lifetime resident of Rosenhayn. He was the son of the late Gaspare and Jennie (nee Chinnici) Sparacio.

He was self employed as a farmer all his life. A member of the Vineland Produce Auction, and the NJ Vegetable Growers Association, Mr. Sparacio was honored as the "Farmer of the Year" in 1995 at the Deerfield Township Harvest Festival and in 2001 honored by the Vegetable Growers Association at their annual dinner in Atlantic City.

A devoted family man; he will be remembered by many as a kind, loving and generous man.

He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's RC Church in Rosenhayn and was also a member of the Sacred Familia. Mr. Sparacio was a former member of Liberty Council #1910, Knights of Columbus and was a Fourth Degree Knight.

He enjoyed planting and growing flowers and making elaborate floral displays around his home. He and his wife loved ballroom dancing and were known as terrific dancers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Janice Bertonazzi (Steve) of Vineland, three sons, Gasper "Butch" Sparacio (Cynthia) of Rosenhayn, Peter Sparacio of Vineland and Dennis Sparacio of Margate, six grandchildren, Steven, Christopher (Andrea), Kevin and Brian Bertonazzi and Dr. Renee Sparacio, DVM and Vincent Sparacio, two great grandsons, Hayden and Dean Bertonazzi, one sister, Angelina LoBiondo and one brother, Joseph V. Sparacio, both of Rosenhayn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Anthony and Samuel Sparacio, predeceased him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary's RC Church, Morton Avenue in Rosenhayn on Wednesday morning July 14th at 11 o'clock.

The burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rosenhayn.

Friends will be received at the church Wednesday morning from 9 until 11.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's RC Church, PO Box 376, Rosenhayn, NJ 08352.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home in Bridgeton.
