Edna Mabel Platts (nee Pool), 86, of Bridgeton passed away peacefully on Friday morning June 25, 2010 at home.

The wife of the late Walter Linwood Platts who passed away in 1976, they were married for 29 years. She was born in Mickleton and was the daughter of the late Henry Pool and the late Marian Rena Pool (nee Owen). She had resided at her Bridgeton residence for over 58 years.

After high school and business school, Mrs. Platts worked for many years as a secretary at Owens- Illinois Glass Co., ABC Research and Martin Dye Co. combined. She was a long time member of the "Toppers," a professional business woman's organization associated with Owens - Illinois Glass Co.

Mrs. Platts was an active member of the Berean Baptist Temple in Bridgeton for over 56 years.

She will be remembered as a woman who "lived for her kids." Her greatest joy was spending time and caring for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Platts enjoyed ballroom dancing, square dancing, big band music, musicals and old movies. During her youth she also enjoyed bowling.

She is survived by four children, Donald W. Platts and his wife Margo B. Platts of Emmaus, PA, Carol Ann Platts of Bridgeton, Marjorie "Marge" Dale Mills and her husband Rev. Robert P. Mills of Forest, VA and Beth D. Etter of Bridgeton and two grandsons, Timothy Aaron Mills and Alfred Brandon Etter. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marian Elsie Schoenberg.

A graveside service will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park, Rte 49, Hopewell Twp. On Friday July 2, 2010 at 4 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to help offset medical expenses care of Carol A. Platts, 460 Irving Avenue, Apt. 2, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton.
