Pamela A. Halter (nee Wagner)
Longtime Area Resident
Pamela A. Halter (nee Wagner), 67, of Hopewell Township died Friday morning June 25, 2010 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Bridgeton after a courageous 20 year struggle with cancer.
The wife of Carl W. Halter for more than 48 years, she was born in Atlantic City and was the daughter of the late Frederick T. and Mary H. (nee Campbell) Wagner. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School with the class of 1960.
A longtime Hopewell Township resident, Mrs. Halter received her associate's degree at Cumberland County College in the 1980s.
She worked for more than 20 years at Hopewell Crest School, first as an aide and for the past several years as the administrative secretary. She was the school's voice to the community and was the first friendly face any visitor saw when entering the school. In spite of her pending surgery in March she worked at the school until the day before her operation.
Mrs. Halter was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton and served several terms on the church's Board of Deacons.
She loved to travel and her favorite destination was always Cape Hatters, NC. She also enjoyed reading and making quilts.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael R. Halter and his wife Joan of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Patrick W. Halter and his wife Melanie of Hopewell Twp., three granddaughters, Alaina Halter, Shaelyn Halter and Grace Halter and one sister, Mary Lou Henderson of Newport.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church, W. Commerce and Giles Streets in Bridgeton on Tuesday morning, June 29th at 11:30.
The church's pastor, Rev. Richard E. Sindall will officiate.
Friends will be received at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 until 11:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Mrs. Halter's memory to SJ Health Care - HospiceCare, PO Box 61, Bridgeton, NJ 08302 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 119 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home in Bridgeton.
