Nicholas Michael Condo
Lifelong Bridgeton Resident
Nicholas Michael Condo, Sr., 77, of Bridgeton died Monday morning June 14, 2010 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Bridgeton Health Center in Bridgeton following an extended illness.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Frank and Rachel (nee Camuccio) Condo and the husband of the late Mary Evelyn (nee Goodson) Condo, who died last year. Mr. and Mrs. Condo had been married for 51 years at the time of her death.
A lifelong Bridgeton resident, he was a graduate of Bridgeton High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was on the USS Loeser during his time of active duty.
Nick worked as a lithographer at the former Price Brothers Lithograph Company in Bridgeton for more than 20 years until he retired.
A member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, he was also active with the Italian American Civic Club in Bridgeton.
He will be remembered as a humble man, who was a devoted husband and father. Many also knew him as a longtime fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and a big fan of Frank Sinatra.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia S. Condo of Media, PA and Rachel Condo and her husband Thomas Kuhn of Alloway, one son, Nicholas Michael Condo Jr. and his wife Tamara of Vineland, seven grandchildren, Wade Bell, Pvt. First Class Brandon Hitchner, US Army, Brooke Barry and her husband John, Dale Hills, Tumira Johnson, Nicholas M. Condo III and Nichara Condo, one great granddaughter, Savanna Gant, one sister, Theresa Condo of Bridgeton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Gubbine and brothers, Dominick, Frank and Joseph Condo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Friday morning June 18th at 11 o'clock.
The burial will follow the service at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday morning from 10 until 11.
