Rita D'Agostino

Retired Hairdresser
 

Rita D'Agostino, 84, of Rosenhayn died unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning January 31, 2010.

Born and raised in Rosenhayn, she had been a Rosenhayn resident all her life. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (nee Ferrerri) D'Agostino.

Rita was a 1943 graduate of Bridgeton High School and following high school attended the Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture in Philadelphia. For more than 54 years, she had been a hairdresser and owned and operated Rita's Salon in Rosenhayn.

She was a member of St. Mary's RC Church in Rosenhayn and was a member of the church's altar and rosary society. In addition, she was a member of the Rosenhayn Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. As a member of the Board of Elections, Rita was a familiar sight at the voting polls. She also enjoyed watching the afternoon soap operas.

Survivors include one sister, Josephine D'Agostino of Rosenhayn, one brother, Russell "Sol" D'Agostino (Angeline) of Chicago, IL, eight nieces and nephews, Sunday Stillwagon (William) of Rosenhayn, Fran Castaldi (Mike) of Upper Deerfield Twp., Joseph R. D'Agostino (Anne) of Stow Creek Twp., Marie Messina (Frank) of Haddonfield, Peter D'Agostino (Dot) of Philadelphia, PA, Fran Garrigan, Nickie Schauer (Ronald) and Joseph D'Agostino (Laura) all of Chicago, IL, 14 great nieces and nephews and 21 great great nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by three sisters, Mary, Augustine and Rose D'Agostino.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary's RC Church, Morton Avenue in Rosenhayn on Wednesday morning February 3rd at 10 o'clock.

The burial will take place in the family cemetery lot at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rosenhayn.

Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday morning from 9 until 10.

Memorial contributions in Miss D'Agostino's memory may be made to St. Mary's RC Church, PO Box 376, Rosenhayn, NJ 08352.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home in Bridgeton.
