Antonia "Tonita" Acosta
Retired Seamstress
Antonia "Tonita" Acosta, 81, of Vineland passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning January 14, 2010 at home. Born in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Arturo Acosta and the late Mercedes Vazquez.
She came to live in Vineland in 1972. Prior to moving to Vineland, she worked as a seamstress for Blue Star in Mayaquez, PR for over 20 years. While living in Vineland she had worked for Blue Coach in Landisville for an additional 12 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church and a long time member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Bridgeton. Tonita enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid bingo and dominoes player. She loved to go the Atlantic City casino's and enjoyed shopping. She was adept at embroidery and tending her flowers and plants.
She is survived by three children, Lydia E. Jordan and her husband Jay of Bridgeton, Aleida Casiano - Cruz and her husband Jose of Vineland and Miguel Casiano and his wife Noraida of Bridgeton, grandchildren, Zaida Ayala and her husband Joaguin, Jorge Velez and his wife Jennifer, Alexa Washington and her husband Roger, Miriam Maisonave, Felipe Maisonave Jr. and his fiancé Christy Pierce, Wanda Casiano, Aleida Casiano - Diaz and her husband Robert and Cristina Casiano, great grandchildren, Mariana Ayala, Joel Velez, Lydiana Ayala, Jordyn Velez, Kiara Maisonave, Joaguin Ayala Jr., Rajai Washington, Roger Washington Jr., Rashawn Washington, Ry'el Washington, Audria Washington, Taviyana Potts, Jayden Jones and Jaylin Diaz and dear friend and caretaker, Irma Jimenez. She was the last of 16 brothers and sisters.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday morning January 18th at 10 o'clock at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce Street, Bridgeton.
The interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday between 9 and 10 A.M.
