Eva Stahlberger Fuse (nee Biddle)
Longtime Bridgeton Resident
Eva Stahlberger Fuse (nee Biddle), 92, of Hopewell Township died Saturday afternoon January 2, 2010 at The Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Township where she had been a resident for nearly five years.
Mrs. Fuse was born in Bridgeton and was the daughter of the late Herman and Elizabeth (nee Turpin) Biddle. A longtime resident of the Bridgeton area, she was predeceased by her first husband, Anton Stahlberger, to whom she was married for 40 years when he died in 1978. In 1987 she married William Fuse and lived in Verga (near National Park) until his death in 2000 when she returned to the Bridgeton area. She lived with her daughter, Shirley, and her son, Bill, until entering "The Manor" in 2005. For many years helped her sister-in-law and later her sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Miller, with the operation of the family's refreshment stand at Cowtown. In addition, Eva was a babysitter to all her grandchildren when they were younger and had an especially close relationship with her granddaughter, Meggan Krawiec.
Mrs. Fuse was lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and while a resident of Verga attended the Rock Church.
She loved visiting with her family and she enjoyed vacationing at the "Jersey Shore" and lying in the sun.
Predeceased by daughter, Shirley A. MacMahan in 2008, son William H. Stahlberger in 2005 and son, George A. Stahlberger Sr. in 1995, she is survived by two sons, Anton W. "Tony" Stahlberger Jr. of the Dominican Republic and John Stahlberger of Millville, son-in-law, James MacMahan of Upper Deerfield Twp., daughter-in-law, Kay Stahlberger of Upper Deerfield Twp., 11 grandchildren, Kimberly and Billy Stahlberger, Kelly Stipes, George Anton Stahlberger Jr., Michael C. Stahlberger, Sandy Dutra, John and Scott Stahlberger, Anton Stahlberger III and Lori Minklei and 16 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include three step-children, Bill Fuse Jr. (Claudia) of Salem, Kathy Gosselin (Rich) of Ohio and Jenny Head (Roger) of England, several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her first and second husband, daughter, Shirley and sons, William and George, she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Catherine "Kay" Stahlberger, brothers, John, Roy and Charles Biddle, sisters, Elizabeth "Libby" Miller, Crissy Simpkins, Ella Elkins and Edith Simpkins and an infant brother, Francis Biddle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon January 6th at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St. in Bridgeton with Pastor Gary Hall of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
The burial will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2:30.
