Robert Dale Barker

Robert Dale Barker, 62, of Hopewell Township passed away early Friday morning May 2, 2008 at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Chattaroy, WV, he was the son of the late Carl Berman Barker and the late Bessie McCoy Barker. He was a graduate of Matewan High School in WV and attended trade school. He served in the US Army and received awards for marksmanship.
He was employed for over thirty-five years as a journeyman machinist and supervisor at many glass companies in New Jersey. He took great pride in his work and was well respected by many in the glass industry. He was most recently employed by Leone Industries in Bridgeton.
Robert enjoyed reading, gardening and bird watching and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons, Shekinah Lodge #58 of Millville.
He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Mary K. (nee Davis) Barker, his daughter, Lisa Barker and her companion Christopher Hawk of Upper Deerfield Twp., his daughter, Carleen Barker-Bauman and her husband David Bauman of Hopewell Twp. and by four grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Sophie Marie Bauman, Brittany Hawk and Christopher Hawk. He is also survived by two brothers, Carl Barker of TN and Walter Barker of WV and two sisters, Nancy Estepp of NC and Brenda Vagott of WV. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Sylvia Christian and Charolette Bondi. He will be fondly remembered as Uncle Rob by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Monday afternoon May 5th at 1 o’clock. Pastor Elizabeth Mitchell and Larry Andrews, a close friend will share in officiating at the service.
The burial of the cremated remains will follow the memorial service at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday afternoon from 12 Noon until 1.
